Al Ain book UAE 2018 berth

Al Ain became the first team to book a berth at the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup after clinching the UAE Pro-League title on Saturday.

Zoran Mamic’s side, who will represent the host nation at UAE 2018, defeated Al Nasr 4-0 to seal the national league with one game remaining.

Sweden international Marcus Berg was the hero, netting a hat-trick as Al Ain claimed their 13th domestic title. UAE forward Ahmed Khalil completed the rout, adding a fourth for his side in stoppage time.

Al Ain will face the OFC Champions League winners, the final taking place next month, in the opening play-off match at UAE 2018. However, if another club from UAE win the AFC Champions League title, that club will represent the host country at the Club World Cup instead of Al Ain.

The 2018 Club World Cup will take place in United Arab Emirates from 12 to 22 December 2018.
