Deepak Sharma Receives “Football Proud Award 2018”

Maharashtra based Kolhapur Gadhinglaj United football Associations (GUFA) in its 3rd edition of “Football Proud Award 2018” has selected All India Football Federation ’s executive member and general secretary of Himachal Pradesh Football Association,  Mr. Deepak Sharma for ‘Football Bhushan’ Award 2018. He has been selected for the award for development of football in the small state of Himachal.

Mr. Deepak Sharma is an executive member of AIFF and working as a general secretary of HPFA. For the past decade, Deepak Sharma has been serving the Himachal Pradesh Football Association as its general secretary and since he has handled this post, there has been a lot of change in Himachal’s football.

He himself is a NIS football coach and in his long career of football coaching he has trained thousands of players and many have played at the national level also.

He is the first such coach of Himachal who has encouraged girls’ football in the state and in recently concluded sub-junior national football championship at cuttack, Odisha, Himachali girls has created history by reaching semi-final level.

It was in his tenure that Himachal was able to conduct two National Level tournaments, Santosh Trophy (north zone) and BC Roy Trophy in the state.

It is all because of Deepak Sharma’s hard work that today, the state has all the categories of the football team for both the man and the woman. All the categories are actively participating in all the national football championship.

Along with Mr. Deepak Sharma, Ex-Coach Appasaheb Wanire, for lifetime achievement and young player Yauvraj Altyekar as the most talented player in U-19 will also be awarded on the occasion. This award ceremony will be held on 4th Aug 2018 at 1 pm. Ex-cabinet minister Hasan Mushrif, Sporting Club Goa Technical Director Peter Vales, Mayor Swati Kori will be the chief guest for this ceremony.
