Thapa appointed as Match Commissioner for National Football Championship

The first and only Match commissioner for All India Football Federation from Himachal Pradesh, Mr Tapish Thapa has now given the full responsibility to conduct upcoming Sub-Junior National Football championship 2018-19 (West Zone) to be held at Maharaja Umed Singh Stadium, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Tapish Thapa from Dharamshala is the first and only Himachali, who has qualified to be the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Match Commissioner. He has achieved this position after passing through the various levels of examinations conducted by the All India Football Federation in July 2017. Earlier, Thapa was offering his services in the Himachal Pradesh Football Association (HPFA).

The role of match commissioners in today’s football is not compromised in terms of importance to the success of the game. To be a Match Commissioner one is need a thorough knowledge of the laws of the game and the rules of the competition. He /She must have an ability to make quick and accurate decisions. He/she have to be brave and bold, especially if the game is getting out of hand.

He himself played football at school, university, state and national level. He is also qualified referee and was the first to start and co-ordinate AIFF’s ‘D’ Level football coaching license course in Himachal Pradesh, for the last more than ten years he is been working with the development activities of football in the State with Himachal Pradesh Football Association (HPFA).

In a very short period of his career (less than a year)as a National Match commissioner, he has so far conducted more than thirty-five (35) National level football matches including Junior National (Final round), U-15  I-League (Rest of India), Senior National (Santosh-Trophy) and Indian National League (Hero I league Second-Division).

Presently he is working with HP Education Department as a Trained Graduate Teacher, posted at GSSS Forsyth-Ganj, Distt: Kangra

Himachal Pradesh Football Association’s General Secretary Mr Deepak Sharma said, “Due to this game (Football) many young people of Himachal have got new recognition in the country.” He added,  “A young player from Rohru is playing in the position of goalkeeper for ISL club, FC Pune city ;  Tapish Thapa hails from Dharamshala  is providing his services to All India Football Federation as a National Match-Commissioner;  Rohit from Hamirpur is acting as a national referee for junior division matches of AIFF thus youth of Himachal has glorified the name of the state in the entire country.”

The SUB-JUNIOR NATIONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2018-19 is a Competition of the All India Football Federation and consists of Zonal Qualifying Rounds and Final round. The venues for zonal qualifying rounds are as West Zone: Rajasthan; North Zone: Haryana; East Zone: Bihar; North-East Zone: Mizoram; South Zone: Telangana.
