INDIA U-16 CONTINUE WINNING RUN WITH 3-1 VICTORY AGAINST AJMAN CLUB

NEW DELHI: The India U-16 team continued their winning run with a 3-1 win over Ajman Club in a friendly in Dubai today (Sunday, January 28, 2018). Lalrokima, Givson and Rohit Danu were the scorers for India. This was the colts third win in a row on their exposure tour, with earlier victories coming against Shaba Al Ahli (5-0) and Al Hamriya Club (10-0).

India gained the lead as early as the 3rd minute of the game when Lalrokima shot home from Samir Kerketta’s cross. The Colts capitalising on the early error to make it 1-0 for India. India dominated the proceedings as Rohit Danu’s shot was blocked by the opposite goalie.

Ajman Club though slowly found their way back into the match earning a penalty in the 19th minute but they shot it wide. A lapse in concentration resulted in another penalty for the home side and this time they found the equaliser to make 1-1 at the 27th minute mark.

The goal seemed to have stirring effect as the boys strode forward in waves. The pressure soon materialised into a goal with Givson finding the back of the net with his 36th minute free-kick. Gurkirat too had a crack at the goal but his effort was saved as the teams headed into the break.

The game slowed down considerably in the 2nd half as both teams failed to create any noteworthy opportunity although India enjoyed ball possession in the first 15 minutes. The game though soon came alive as Rohit Danu moved forward to strike in at the hour mark to make it 3-1 in India’s favour.

India continued their dominance as coach Bibiano brought on a few players but the scoreline remained the same as the game ended 3-1.
