FIFA today announced that Marco Fazzone has been appointed as the Director of the FIFA World Football Museum. Marco, who is currently the Managing Director of Design & Regional Art Fairs of the MCH Group Ltd. in Basel, will take up the post in February 2018.
“I am happy to underline that we are definitely on the right track. In the last year, we have worked hard on the cost model as well as streamlining the whole financial structure of the museum,” said Zvonimir Boban, FIFA Deputy Secretary General (Football).
“It is therefore time to take the next important step. We are delighted to welcome Marco Fazzone to be our new Director of the FIFA World Football Museum. The new Director knows exactly what the museum’s mission is and how he has to exercise it.
“The FIFA World Football Museum should to be a meeting point for dialogue and debate on football and contemporary culture and plays an important role nationally and internationally. The museum is important to Zurich, and makes a lot of people in Zurich happy.”
Biography
Marco is currently the Managing Director of Design & Regional Art Fairs of the MCH Group Ltd. based in Basel where he is responsible for strategic and business management.
Prior to his appointment as Managing Director at the MCH Group Ltd., Marco was the Director Resources & Finance and Member of the Executive Committee of ART BASEL (from 2013 to 2016), the Commercial Vice-Director of the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) (from 2007 to 2013), the Director of Commercial Services of AOZ Zurich (from 2004 to 2007) and the Director of Commerce of the Swiss Museum Group (MUSEE SUISSE) (from 2001 to 2004).
Marco studied economics at the University of Applied Science in Business Administration in Zurich. In 2012, he successfully completed the Master’s course and obtained the title of Executive Master of Business Administration. He speaks German, Italian, English and French. He was born in 1972 and has Swiss and Italian citizenship.
